Description

Here is my: Speaker Media Kit

Based on the talk around infertility there are several topic ideas I can speak on:

1. The emotional and psychological journey of infertility. (As a Latina or General)

  • The experience of infertility is frequently described as an emotional rollercoaster of hope and disappointment, leading to stress, isolation, anxiety, and feelings of failure. This presentation will cover the typical range of emotions experienced by individuals and couples, provide practical coping strategies, and discuss how infertility affects personal identity, relationships, and social circles. It will also address the unique ways men and women experience this stress differently.

2. Infertility as a medial and social issue: facts, diagnosis and access.

  • Infertility is a significant health issue with both female-factor (37%), male-factor (8%), and combined-factor (35%) causes, with 5% remaining unexplained. This talk will demystify the facts, diagnosis, and risk factors, emphasizing why recognizing infertility as a disease is crucial for standardizing care and expanding access to treatment. It will also address the existing disparities in prevalence and access to services through a reproductive justice framework. I personally experienced unexplained infertility.

3.  Communicating about infertility: breaking the silence

  • Due to social stigma and a lack of public awareness, infertility is often a silent struggle. This discussion will provide guidance on how individuals and couples can effectively communicate their experiences and needs to partners, family, friends, and even in the workplace. The goal is to empower those affected to build empathic support systems and reduce feelings of shame and isolation.

4. Cultural Infertility Context As A Latina

  • Examining the intense cultural pressure for motherhood, the emphasis on family and childbearing, and the potential for stigma or silence surrounding reproductive issues within the community.
